To wash you can hand wash or throw into the dishwasher. We have done both and had no issues with color changing or food sauce stains.

Spoons don’t stay on rest no matter which way u put them so they just flop around and fall on the counter, completely defeating the purpose of the rest.

I actually prefer a big grid with a lid, this one is just for my kitchen utensils, I think I should buy another one with a big grid.
